Do you know someone who’s self-employed?

I’ll give you a hint — if the answer to the first question is ‘yes’, then so is the answer to the second question. Nearly all small business owners are frustrated and overwhelmed by marketing.

The problem is, there aren’t many resources out there for small business marketing. Most marketing information is aimed at big businesses — people with million-dollar marketing budgets. People who have plenty of sales, and are simply concerned with eking out a 1% increase this quarter. People who can safely assume that everyone in the country has heard of their company.

In other words, it simply doesn’t apply to microbusinesses. Small business owners may have a few thousand dollars for marketing, or less. They who have months with too little business… and months with too much. They need a lot more than a 30-second spot to convince someone to buy from them.

Bare Minimum Marketing is the answer to that problem. From the introduction:

This book assumes that you own, or are considering owning, a small or micro-business. That you’re really good at what you do – when you’re able to convince someone to hire you. That you’re kind of intimidated and overwhelmed by this whole “marketing” thing, and wish someone would just tell you what to do.
